Can you remember the last time you got a good night’s sleep? We would hope that every resident of our Houston, TX apartments feels well rested every night, but we understand that good sleep can be elusive. With that in mind, we thought we’d share a list of some helpful sleep tips. If you follow the advice in the blog post below, you should be able to fall asleep faster, stay asleep throughout the night and feel better when you wake up every morning.

Start wearing socks to bed.
This might sound crazy to some people, but it actually works. Some studies have shown that people fall asleep faster when their extremities are warm. It’s easy to keep your hands warm under the pillow, but your feet are another story. That’s why we recommend wearing socks to bed for the next week. If it works, you may have found your solution to falling asleep faster.
Slowly turn off your lights before bed.
It’s hard to get your body to fall into its natural rhythms when you work inside all day. Exposure to sunlight actually helps our body recognize when it’s time to be awake and when it’s time to get tired. However, you can mimic the effect of the sun going down by turning off lamps gradually throughout the night until they’re all off. If you do it right, you’ll be dead tired by the time you want to fall asleep.
If you share a bed, try separate blankets.
Once you try having two blankets instead of one, you’ll wonder why you ever used one blanket in the first place. There’s nothing worse than pulling a blanket back and forth throughout the night when you’re sleeping in bed with someone else, but having two blankets eliminate that issue. Sure, your bed might be a little more crowded with the extra blanket, but you won’t notice when you’re sleeping through the night with no tossing, turning or stealing the blanket back.
